About Us
Welcome to the Swansea University History Society 2023/24!
Who we are:
The History Society exists to represent all history lovers in Swansea University. If you study any type of History or Humanities degree, have a love of history outside of your studies, or want to learn more about the past, we're the society for you! We offer a range of events, from laid back socials where you can meet people on your course, to academic and employability events that allow you to make the most of your degree! Be sure to buy a membership to keep up to date!
What we do:
We aim to vary our events as much as possible. We hold regular socials, both sober and non-sober, where you can get to know people on your course in a much more friendly environment than the lecture hall - these include pub quizzes and pub crawls (with historical themes), study sessions and coffee socials, and joint events with the other academic societies. We also aim to maximise the value of History at Swansea by offering talks and workshops with organisations, organising trips to historical sites and archives, and assisting the department's academic journal Gorffennol!
Your committee 2023/24 (2024/25):
President: Matthew Stevens (Mimi Golbourn-Peters)
Secretary: Abigail Miller (Grace Simpson)
Treasurer: Samuel Bricker (Samuel Bricker)
Social Secretary: Lauri Golding (Lauri Golding & Maeve Silver)
Academic Officer: Grace Simpson (Jack Davis)
Freshers Officer: Mimi Golbourn-Peters (Vacant)
