Welcome to Swansea University Motorsport Club,
Want to join the fastest, most exciting, and greatest sports club at uni? Want to take part in the brand-new Swansea University Karting Championship? Want an opportunity to represent the mighty Green and White Army in the British Universities Karting Championship (BUKC)? Then you’ve come to the right place! The club is recruiting new members this year; both existing and new members of the Welsh University of the Year are welcome as well as experienced and novice racers!
If you've joined already, please join our Facebook group at https://www.facebook.com/groups/385440297918860/
We are planning a wide range of new activities this year including the Swansea Uni Karting Championship, starting with the Fresher’s Shield at Cardiff Teamsport. As well as this, the championship will involve 6 rounds at circuits all across Wales throughout the year at a discounted price! People are free to do as few or as many rounds as they wish, though we highly recommend taking part all year!
New to the Motorsport society, we will be running several Esports events. A partnership with SimRace1 means we will be able to host online championships as well as coaching sessions for anyone of every skill level! As well as this, we can run our own championships on household games such as Assetto Corsa and the Formula 1 game.
For those of you who are only interested in watching, we will also host group sessions to go to local tracks to watch real life races. Tracks like Castle Combe, Thruxton and even Silverstone host a wide variety of events worth attending, BTCC, British GT and the TCR championship to name a few.
We will also be involved in the BUKC again this year with multiple teams representing Swansea in a very fun, feisty and reasonably priced kart series. Trials will be in October so give us a shout if you're interested in taking part!
Every Wednesday we have our own motorsport themed socials, from our own spin on pub golf, to Mario Kart night, we have it all to offer. This year we are teaming up with a local Pub, The Mill, this is where we will host all our F1 watchalongs as well as spending a fair amount of our socials before we tackle Wind Street.
Much like last year we are also doing F1 watch marathons. This includes spending the entire Sunday of an F1 race weekend in The Mill watching all the support series as well as the main race. Prices for entry will vary from a full day pass, where you can come and go as you please, to just coming for the race. At the watch-alongs, we will also run our own F1 fantasy league where the person who scored the most points after the race will receive a special prize. The entry fee will mean you gain access to our exclusive discounted drinks from our sponsor, The Mill in Bryn-Y-Mor.
Feel free to give us a message, email, or come down to the fresher's fayre for more information, the committee and I are happy to answer any questions or queries you might have.
