Welcome to the Swansea University Swimming Team!

The team caters for swimmers of varying abilities, from those who wish to train and race at a competitive level to those who wish to keep fit and be social. Our aim as a team is to provide a platform for everyone to enjoy their swimming, whether that means enabling swimmers to perform at national levels or revel in the social side of the sport.

In recent years the team has grown in size and strength enabling us to enter A, B and C teams competing in Divisions 1, 2 and 3 of the BUCS team championships respectively. We also send swimmers to both long and short-course individual BUCS championships. Other competitions we always look forward to taking part in are BUSL and of course the annual Welsh Varsity!

The swim team is an all-inclusive environment and we welcome all everyone to come and join our team.

 

VOLUNTEERING:

There are volunteering opportunities for people to become part of the swim team who perhaps don't want to swim but would like to be part of the team and have many great skills that help support and improve the service the team gives its members:

- Poolside coaching: Help out on poolside coaching with the team this can lead to funded level 1 and level 2 coaching qualifications

- Team Manager: If you have great organisational skills maybe team managing is an area to get into. Again, there are courses to help develop the skills, these courses are Swim Wales and British Swimming recognised and could lead to you being involved in those organisations.

- Officials: Contribute to competitions and learn the rules and regulations of the sport. The club will fund the courses which start as a J1 all the way to a head referee.

- Running Meets: If any of the above is not for you, then we are always looking for helpers at some of the competitions run by ourselves at the Wales National Pool. We always need volunteers to help with tasks such as announcing/posting results/marshalling/ helping the catering team.

SOCIALS:

We have team socials every other Wednesday, which involve some really great themes and activities, and are a great way to get to know your team members outside of the pool. We also hold dry socials and charity events throughout the year, so make sure you get involved! Our social secs work very hard to make sure we have the best, safe and fun socials for everyone, so if you have any questions, please get in touch with Olivia or Jamie and they will be happy to help.

 

MEMBERSHIP: 

Please do not get membership until asked to by our committee, so we ensure you get the correct membership. Thank you in advance!

Every student joining the swim team must purchase a Sport Swansea membership (£35) along with a swimming team membership (£40) via the Swansea Students Union website, in order to train and compete.

We also have training fees which vary between squads and are required to be paid either semesterly or on the 1st of every month. We will notify you about these at the beginning of each term.

 

SWIMMING KIT:

All our swimming kit comes from our university team sponsor, Speedo. You will be notified throughout the year of opportunities to purchase kits, including:
