Aikido is a modern self-defence martial art developed in Japan in the 1930s by Morihei Ueshiba, a master of several traditional martial arts, who envisaged a new way that would provide a basis for both physical and mental development. Force is never opposed by force, you are taught to divert an attackers force and turn it back upon them. The techniques of aikido will teach you how to bring an opponent to the ground with throws (naga-waza) and to control an assailant using a variety of joint locks (katame-waza).
Aikido will exercise every limb and every joint of your body. It will help develop flexibility, muscle tone, coordination and reflexes. All together providing an excellent whole body workout.
Aikido is for everyone. It requires no great physical strength or aggressive spirit, just a commitment to training and the willingness to better yourself. One of the great joys of Aikido is that it is practiced by people from all walks of life, making the dojo (Practice hall) a fantastic place to meet people regardless of age, sex and occupation.

Crefft ymladd hunan-amddiffyn modern yw Aikido a datblygwyd yn Japan yn yr 1930s gan Morihei Ueshiba, meistr nifer o grefft ymladd traddodiadol, a rhagwelodd ffordd newydd a ddarperid sail ar gyfer datblygiad corfforol a meddyliol. Nid yw grym yn cael ei wrthwynebu gan grym, dysgir i ddargyfeirio grym yr ymosodwr a’i droi e arnyn nhw. Mae technegau Aikido yn dysgu sut i ddod â’r ymosodwr i’r llawr gyda thafliadau (naga-waza), ac i reoli ymosodwr gan ddefnyddio amrywiad o gloeon ar y cyd (katame-waza).
Bydd Aikido yn ymarfer bob aelod o’ch corff. Bydd e’n helpu datblygu hyblygrwydd, tôn cyhyrau, cyd-symudiad ac atgyrchau. Mae’n darparu sesiwn ymarfer corff ardderchog ar gyfer eich holl gorff.
Mae Aikido i bawb. Nid oes angen unrhyw gryfder corfforol neu naws cystadleuol, dim ond ymrwymiad i hyfforddi a’r parodrwydd i wella’ch hun. Un o bleserau Aikido yw bod pobl o bob lliw a llun yn ei ymarfer, sy’n golygu bod y dojo (Neuadd Ymarfer) yn lle ardderchog i gwrdd â phobl, beth bynnag eich oedran, rhyw neu swydd.
