Namaste!
Welcome to Swansea Hindu Society!
We are one of the largest student societies in Swansea and one of the most prominent Hindu Societies in South England & Wales. We provide the most variety of any society on campus - flagship events, intimate socials, weekly aartis, sports, volunteering - everything you can imagine!
Who are we?
Formed in the academic year 2015/2016, we preserve, promote and practice Hindu Dharma and its values, whilst providing a “home away from home” atmosphere for all our members. As one big family, we offer an amazing opportunity to learn and experience the Hindu religion and culture.
We welcome anyone and everyone who wants to join, regardless of their faith, race, gender or nationality - we have many events that cater to everyone's interests. Empowerment starts with showing up as yourself. We’re ready when you are.

What do we do?
We strive to raise awareness about the Hindu way of life (Sanatana Dharma) in a way that’s engaging, inclusive, and fun. Through a variety of events and activities, we aim to create a welcoming space that supports a strong sense of community.
Our society is here to help members connect with their cultural, spiritual, educational, and social roots. Whether it’s through festival celebrations, social events, volunteering in community projects, or our optional weekly Aarti (prayer sessions), there’s something for everyone to get involved in.
University is more than just studying—it’s a journey of self-discovery, connection, and growth. It’s about understanding how we can contribute to the wider world, support others, and live with purpose. Our society offers an incredible opportunity not just for Hindus to practice their faith, but also for people of all backgrounds to experience and learn about Hinduism and its vibrant culture.

Sports: We aim to hold weekly badminton, football and netball sessions, as well as playing Kabbadi and Kho-Kho. The society also gets involved with the university’s intramural football league. We participate in regional and national sports competitions, hosted by the NHSF, called Zonals and Nationals where different teams from Hindu societies across the UK compete. This is an opportunity for you to represent Swansea and to go head to head against other universities.
