Welcome to the Live Music Society at Swansea University! We are an enthusiastic and vibrant community of music lovers, performers and musicians creating an inclusive and exciting place to create and perform live music on campus. Whether you’re an experienced musician, beginning to explore music or just a casual listener, our society will have something to offer you!
Our memberships for students studying at Swansea Uni cost £10 for new members and £3 for returning members. We also offer associate memberships available for students studying elsewhere, £12 for new members and £4 for returning members.
WHO WE ARE : Run by our four current committee members Meg, Jordan, Callum and Pete; our society brings together individuals from diverse musical backgrounds - ranging from classical pianists to rock bands, jazz aficionados and indie enthusiasts. We believe that music can inspire, unite and express creativity and hope to provide these musical opportunities for everyone so they can express their passion.
WHAT WE DO: Throughout the year we organise and attend a variety of events to show off and support live music at the university and in Swansea as a whole.
- OPEN MIC NIGHTS: We present a weekly open mic night in collaboration with JC’s at JC’s Sports Bar on Singleton Campus, every Monday night starting at 7pm. Presented by our very own Social Sec, Mr Pete Taylor, it is a fun and relaxed environment for anyone to show off their talents. SO, whether you’re a singer-songwriter, covers performer or budding comedian - the open mic night is your chance to shine.
- JAM SESSIONS: We hold weekly jam sessions in the music rooms on Singleton campus starting at 6pm. It’s the perfect place for an informal meet up where we can collaborate, experiment and improvise on all styles of music.
- GIG NIGHTS: We attend and perform many gigs in Swansea at venues such as Bunkhouse and Sin City. We have had a number of our members perform and be asked to attend professional and casual gigs, and events in Swansea. We would love to share these opportunities with you! We also hope to organise trips to gigs around the country!
- WINYL NIGHTS: Created last year, the Winyl Nights have become infamous among our members. On Thursday nights bring a vinyl record or some wine if you wish (or feel free to just bring yourself along!) and enjoy sharing your favourite music over a glass or two with others in the society.
- SOCIALS: We hold socials almost every week each with a dynamic theme.
- COLLABORATIONS: We have collaborated with many different societies in the past, such as performing ‘Nothing Else Matters’ by Metallica at the Musicians Film and Gaming Showcase. We hope to have many more events this year …

Beth yr ydym yn ei gynnig:
- Rydym yn darparu fforwm ar gyfer cerddorion o unrhyw fath i gwrdd â phobl tebyg iffynt a ffurfio bandiau/actiau acwstig.
- Rydym yn croesawu bob math a genre.
- Noswaith meic agored bob dydd Mawrth yn JC's, y bar ar gampws, ar gyfer actiau acwstig. Amgylchedd hamddenol a lle gwych i berfformio yn rheolaidd.
- Lle ymarfer ar gyfer bandiau yn Sin City dydd Llun a dydd Mawrth. Cit drymiau, chwyddseinydd bas, chwyddseinydd gitâr, bysellfwrdd a system PA ar gael i’w ddefnyddio gan aelodau.
- Rydym yn hybu bandiau ac actiau unigol sy’n ffurfio trwy’r gymdeithas gyda chyngherddau rheolaidd trwy gydol y flwyddyn. Mae hyn hefyd yn cynnwys Battle of the Bands ar ddiwedd y flwyddyn.
Cost aelodaeth yw £10 ar gyfer aelodau newydd a £2 ar gyfer aelodau sy’n dychwelyd. Gall un o’n aelodau pwyllgor ateb unrhyw gwestiynau naill ai trwy ein tudalen Facebook swyddogol neu yn bersonol (fel arfer, gellir ein ffeindio ar nosweithiau Mawrth yn noson meic agored JC’s) felly peidiwch ag ofni siarad â ni os hoffech ymuno.
