Hi, everyone! We are Swansea University's Computer Society: an academic society targetted at computer science students and anyone else interested in the area.
As a society, we aim to offer a supportive and inclusive environment that affords students an opportunity to get advice and extra development opportunities for their coding endeavours, as well as offering opportunities to meet and socialise with like-minded individuals
Academics
We are committed to supporting the academic pursuits of our members. We will provide resources, workshops, and mentorship programs to help members excel in their studies. Collaboration with academic institutions and professionals is a key component of this, offering you valuable insights and opportunities for growth.
Throughout the year, we will be offering programming projects. These will give members invaluable experience that can be referenced as specific examples in job interviews (employers very often ask for these).
By prioritising academic excellence, we aim to create a culture of continuous learning and achievement.
Socials and Events
In addition to our support of members academically, we also try to offer weekly socials throughout the academic year so that you can have a break from your studies and relax. This year, you can expect to see the following socials:
- End of year celebratory event;
- Club nights;
- Coffee and coding;
- Pub crawls;
- Board game cafe visits;
- Bowling;
- Collaborations with other societies;
amongst others.
If you would like to see any socials not included in the list above, do let us know, and we will try to make this possible.
All of our socials are announced in advance with ample notice on both our instagram page and in our discord server. Our big events will also be announced via email.
