Yesterday, the Full Time Officer team had a meeting with the University’s Senior Management Team. Over the hour and a half meeting we discussed a number of issues amongst one of which was the Marking Boycott.
I put the following questions to the Senior Management team:
1) What is the University doing to influence UCEA in improving their offer to UCU nationally to stop the marking boycott before it begins?
The answer here was that the University has a long term positive relationship with UCU locally here at Swansea University and the University are playing an active part in its conversations with UCEA to stop the marking boycott before it begins.
2) Does the University have robust contingencies in place in the event of a marking boycott to make sure that work will be marked and students will be able to graduate?
The answer here was whilst the University isn’t able to release the details of their contingencies, they are doing everything in their power to make sure that work will be assessed as normal and students will be able to graduate.
I will of course follow up the meeting yesterday for more details and the SU will continue to update students with more information as we get it. If you're on facebook, click attend on this event to stay in the know: https://www.facebook.com/events/626718840726609/
