Be part of a Team

Joining a sports club or society is a great way to meet new friends and likeminded students that have similar interests to you. There are hundreds of clubs available to join here at Swansea University to suit every student!

Committee positions available

Once part of the club you will have the opportunity, over the years, to be part of their committee, which will look really good on your CV!

Social Events

Throughout the year there will be tons of weekly events, socials, and activities to get to know your club and team better. You’ll soon become very close with club members and is a great way to get involved un university life!

Presidents and Club Captains
  • To oversee all committee and ensure they are acting accordingly in their roles as well as to ensure the club is properly affiliated and registered appropriately for the season.
  • To ensure the club runs according to the constitution and the ruling of Sport Swansea and to feed back to the university and Sport Swansea on a regular basis.
  • To help manage teams and game organisation each week and liaise with Sport Swansea when necessary.
  • To lease with the treasurer and other committee regarding expenditure
Secretary
- To organise charity events and fundraisers throughout the year for club members as well as the public and alumni. - To raise money and awareness through the club about different charities that need help.
Treasurer
- To keep track of the finances of the club throughout the year. - To ensure the club stays out of financial debt as well as making it known to the committee how much money is available to be invested back into the club. - To aid the committee and club by overseeing transactions from its members and the club for any reason necessary.

Kit Secretary
- To organise the playing kit for this academic year (in time for the beginning of the season). - To organise club stash in the form of bulk or single orders to be made available to the whole club and alumni. - To organise Varsity playing kit for both teams and design in correspondence with the Team Captains.
Social Secretary
- To organise social events (likely at a sponsored bar) for the club the entire academic year including themed nights (aimed at each week). - To ensure that freshers and seniors both feel welcome and included in these events. - To organise events, open to the public and/ or alumni (likely in coordination with charity sec).
Media Officer
- To promote the club in all means possible using each social media platform. - To submit written entries to the university magazine. - To report on each game played on the day to all social media pages. - To help promote any sponsors the club will be in contract with if so required.

Once you pay membership to be part of a sports club you will be covered by insurance when you are participating in matches, training, and away days. This includes: Public liability and person accidents.

Varsity

Every year we host a Sports Varsity against the University of Cardiff, it’s not a day to miss! Everyone can attend whether you play a sport or not!

Making friends

Making friends is a crucial part of university, being part of a club or society means that you will interact with likeminded students, could become friends for life!
