We look ahead to the biggest university sports day in the UK - The Welsh Varsity 2013 is almost here!
You may notice a change of colour on campus this week, as the whole university gets into The Welsh Varsity 2013 spirit by donning our patriotic sports colours of Green & White.

So what is The Welsh Varsity?
Recognised as the biggest univeristy sports day in the UK, The Welsh Varsity is the ultimate grudge DAY between Swansea University and Cardiff University.
Over 30 different sports take place at The Welsh Varsity as the two universities compete for both the Varsity Shield and the Varsity Cup.
The university with the most wins throughout the day become the proud holders of the shield. The showpiece of the day is the Rugby Union game in the mighty fortress of the Millennium Stadium. The winners of this game bag themselves the Varsity cup.
The day attracts in excess of 15,000 supporters from the two universities, with the 2013 fixture expected to have 20,000 within the stadium for the big match. As well as this incredible crowd at the stadium, the day is covered by Welsh channel S4C and numerous radio stations providing rugby coverage.
Win or Lose, The Welsh Varsity really brings out what it means to be a part of a university community. You'll join your friends and you'll make new ones as you cover your face in the proud Green & White colours of Sport Swansea, chant through the streets of Cardiff and unleash your inner Swan as you scream throughout the whole sunny Spring day.
The 2013 Welsh Varsity will take place on Wednesday 24th April.
