So, you have decided to have sex, that’s great. Now let's learn a little bit about how to look after your sexual health and where to find support!
What is Sexual Health?
There are many misconceptions regarding what sexual health actually means.
Many believe that it is only concerned with STIs and unplanned pregnancies; however, the World Health Organization defines sexual health as ‘a state of physical, emotional, mental and social well-being in relation to sexuality.’
Just like your mental and physical wellbeing, you should be looking after your sexual health too.
This doesn’t just mean avoiding risks, it is about being in control and informed about your body and your choices to ensure positive sexual experiences!
Looking after your sexual health is important. It means that you are in the right headspace to be engaging in sexual activities and are informed about what you are doing.
