What is Wales Climate Week?
Wales Climate Week - that time of the year when Team Wales partners, including community groups, businesses, environmental organisations, academic institutions, charities, third-sector networks and more gather for a discussion on climate change.
They're not just there for the free snacks - but to plan how to tackle climate change fairly, and how to deliver policies and programmes associated with climate change in a people-centred way.
We've put together some easy-to-follow, budget-friendly ways for you to live a little more sustainably this week (and hopefully much longer)!
Student-Friendly Sustainability Tips
Making some small and simple changes to your daily life can make a big impact on the climate crisis
- Reusable Bottles & Cups - easily reduce single-use plastic waste by using your own cups and bottles
- Reusable Bags - keep a folded-up shopping bag in your handbag or backpack, and keep a stash in your car boot
- Cleaning & Hygiene - Opt for plastic-free packaging, including swapping liquid soap, shampoo and conditioner for bars
What your SU does
We're doing our bit for sustainability
- Foodbank donations
- We have foodbank donation drop-off points in Costcutter on Singleton campus, and at Y Twyni reception on Bay campus, with the food going to our foodbank which relies on donations to function
- SWell
- Swansea University launched the SWell app in 2021. The Sustainability and Wellbeing app rewards students and staff for making healthier, greener choices
- Zero Waste to Landfill
- Green Impact Award
There are also eco-friendly and sustainable events run through the year including litter picking and beach cleaning - check out our What's On page to stay up to date.
