Swansea’s reputation is in your hands, so let’s make sure we bring the party without the chaos.

Follow these simple dos and don’ts to avoid getting yourself banned, battered, or barred from your favourite pub.

DO:

  • Enjoy yourself responsibly – Have the time of your life, but don’t end up being the main character in someone’s Varsity horror story

  • Support your team with passion – Shout, chant, sing your heart out… just keep it respectful

  • Look out for your mates – Varsity is a team sport, and that includes keeping an eye on your pals. No one wants to be that person left stranded at 2 AM

  • Drink water & pace yourself – Hydration is key, and you can’t chant “Green and White Army” if you’re face-down in a gutter

  • Follow venue rules – They’re not there to ruin your fun; they’re there to keep you in the venue and out of trouble

  • Respect event staff and security – They’re here to help, not to be your personal punching bag when you’ve had one too many VKs

  • Be inclusive and welcoming – Varsity is for everyone, so keep it friendly

  • Take care of your belongings – Lost phones and wallets have ruined many a Varsity night. Don’t let it be yours

  • Be mindful of public spaces – Cardiff is letting us in for the day - don’t repay them by being a menace

  • Know your way home – Plan your escape route before you need it. Future you will thank you

DON'T:

  • Don’t drink excessively – It’s a marathon, not a sprint. No one’s impressed by how fast you can down a pint if you can’t stand up by midday

  • Don’t be physically or verbally abusive – There’s no excuse for being a d**k

  • Don’t damage property – You’re representing Swansea, so don’t act like a fresher who’s just discovered tequila

  • Don’t invade the pitch – It’s not worth the ban, the fine (or the inevitable shame)

  • Don’t leave your mates behind – Varsity is better together. If your mate goes missing, go full Sherlock and find them

Follow these simple rules, and you’ll make Swansea proud ... Without making tomorrow’s headlines.
