First time voting and worried about the process? Don't worry, we've got an easy-to-follow guide for you!
Before you head off to the polling station:
- you must be registered to vote
- check your polling card - this will have the info of your allocated polling station (check the list here)
- take your ID (full list of accepted ID can be found here)
- you don't need to take your polling card
- make sure the polling station is open - you can only vote between 7am and 10pm on the day
When you arrive at the polling station:
- have your ID ready
- head over to the desk where volunteers will ask for your name and address
- when you are handed a voting slip, go to a booth
- the voting slip will advise you on how to mark your vote
- when you have made your choice, fold your paper over and place it in the ballot box
- don't forget to check for Dogs at Polling Stations!
And that's it! Congratulations - you've just exercised your democratic right. Feels good, doesn't it?!
