If you fancy a different atmosphere but don't want to walk too far from town, have you thought about checking out the Marina?

Nestled to the side of the National Waterfront Museum - a stone's throw from the bottom of Wind Street - you'll find a cosy bar serving cocktails, food, and impeccable vibes.

We asked one of our students to pop down to The Swigg and give us their honest review ...

The Swigg - 19th October 2024

Last Saturday night, a friend and I decided to check out The Swigg in the Marina. A bar-come restaurant, I'd heard some great things and it didn't disappoint.

With soft lighting, upbeat music and a lively crowd it made for a great Saturday night. The interior has a relaxed yet modern feel, making it an ideal spot for a weekend hangout and perfect for the 'gram!

You can expect a boujee twist on the classic bar food; burgers, fries, and small plates with added flair, and a weekly changing board of specials. With vegan options available everyone will be able to find something on the menu up their street!

The portions were generous without being overwhelming, and the food arrived quickly, even with the busy Saturday crowd.

If you're not a fan of loud music they have a great outside seating area, fitted with heaters and umbrellas, for a quieter, more intimate setting.

With a lively bar if you're not looking to grab a bite it's still a perfect place to start your night, with loads of craft beers on tap, some great cocktails, and your regular favourites, you can't go wrong.

Overall, The Swigg delivered on all fronts - great food, reasonable prices, and an atmosphere that’s perfect for a weekend night out. I’ll be returning! If you’re looking for a laid-back yet fun spot to spend your evening, The Swigg is worth a visit.
