Now the dust has settled on another hard fought elections campaign we are delighted to announce your officer team for the 2024/25 academic year. 

The SU Officer team represents you. They've been elected by students, and are the voice for students - here to fight your corner!

By raising awareness of different issues, celebrating the diversity of our student body and standing up for students, the officer team work together to ensure you have the best experience possible while at Swansea University.

 

So, introducing your Full Time Officers (FTO): 

President - Megan Chagger 

Megan will be taking the lead in democratic procedures, acting as the main point of contact for university-related matters, and serving as the primary liaison between the SU and the University. She will be the face of the student body throughout the University and her role will be to ensure the fair representation of all students.

Education Officer - Katie Wilkinson 

Katie will provide support and representation for all Swansea University Students. She works with the 3 Faculties, over 350 Subject and 33 School Reps to make sure students continue to have a voice in their Education.

Welfare Officer - Marzia Sartori 

Marzia will be providing student support and working with the Advice and Support Centre to ensure students feel supported, particularly regarding their health and wellbeing.

Societies & Services Officer - Maddy Jones

Maddy will be supporting all of the SU’s societies, in addition to overseeing and having a say on the running of all of the Union’s services. These services include JC’s, Cove, Costcutter, Y Stwdio, Nursery and the Advice and Support centre. Maddy will also chair the Society Exec Committee, in which they ensure all the societies are fairly represented.

Welsh Affairs Officer - Carys Dukes 

Carys will champion Welsh student interests, voicing concerns to the university. Collaborating with peers and staff, she will enhance Welsh cultural engagement through events, campaigns, and initiatives. Carys' role ensures Welsh student needs are addressed, fostering a dynamic, supportive, and culturally enriched campus community.

Sports Officer - Cameron Messetter

Cameron will oversee the day-to-day functioning of all 56 sports clubs at Swansea University. He will be a key point of contact between the Students' Union and Sport Swansea, helping us collaboratively work on huge sporting projects like The Welsh Varsity. 

 

Also elected to the Part Time Officer (PTO) roles of Womens Officer and Students With Disabilities Officer were Melody Lin and Bakhtawar Abdalla respectively.
