Important Infomation

What we offer at Advice and Support

Living Life to the Full:

Living Life to the Full is a CBT- based life skills course that we offer at the advice center. This is not CBT therapy, but the sessions rely on its principals to work on low level well-being issues. It consists of sessions tailored to each individual student on topics aimed at building life skills and resilience that will help you with your time at university. Because of the way the course is run, there is limited availability and spaces will be allocated to those best suited to it.

One-to-One Meetings

If you feel you are struggling and do not know where to start or who to speak to, we can provide a listening ear and offer advice and signposting services.  If you are feeling overwhelmed with your studies and need to have a chat, come and speak to one of our advisors. Around exam time we offer an exam checklist and can help you talk through your concerns and perhaps alleviate some stress. For any higher level mental health concerns, the well-being team will be more suitable as they have trained counsellors to support you.

Need a safe space?

At the advice and support center, we have a dedicated safe space room. This room is meant to promote relaxation and calm. This quiet room can be used by anyone who needs somewhere to take a uninterrupted break , get away from an unpleasant situation, or if you feel you need a confidential quiet space on campus.

Useful Resources

Period Products

In an effort to make period products more accessible across campus, we have free period products in the Advice and Support Centre and in the student’s union. We offer pads, tampons and menstrual cups.

Anti-spiking:

To help contribute to harm prevention, we offer anti-spiking measures in the students’ union.

Safety in Swansea and on Campus

Hollie Guard: This app allows you to press a button that signals an alert to designated emergency contacts, sending a recording as well as your location to these contacts. The information will also go to a 24/7 monitoring centre approved by the police. The app also allows you to set timers and plan journeys with safety measures in place so that your contacts can be alerted if things don’t go as planned. Hollie Guard – Personal Safety App

SafeZone App: This app is supported by Swansea University, and is linked to the university’s security services to give you easy access to security in an emergency. Safezone App

Sexual Violence, Hate Crime and Harassment

Sexual Violence

Report and support is the university system for reporting sexual misconduct. This is done through an online system, where you can choose to provide your details or report anonymously. This is a strictly confidential service only accessible to designated SVLO’s and the University crisis team, so your information will not be available to anyone else. Please get in touch if you need further
